Twenty things for the darkroom & the windowsill

From kit to print

Four steps, no enlarger required

01

Coat

Brush light-sensitive solution onto paper or cloth under dim light, then let it dry in the dark.

02

Compose

Load a pinhole camera, or lay objects and negatives straight onto the coated sheet in a contact frame.

03

Expose

Put it in the sun or under a UV unit. Minutes, not fractions of a second — you watch it happen.

04

Develop

Rinse, tone, dry. Prussian blues, warm sepias, soft lumen pinks — the chemistry decides the colour.
